Teeth in a day: Eileen’s Story - Full-arch implant treatment
Eileen and Guy share the ‘Teeth in a Day’ experience at The Implant Centre – the remarkably common procedure of removing failing teeth, placing implants, and fitting bridgework onto the implants all on the same day.

Eileen: I woke up this morning feeling a bit nervous, and a bit anxious. But I'm trying not to think too hard about the details of it. I was thinking on my way in that this would be the last time I'd have that horrible taste in my mouth from gum disease. And it’ll be the last time my teeth will be clicking, every time I move my tongue or talk. And at the end of the day, I'm going to have a nice set of teeth. So, you know, it's a good day.
Guy: Eileen, good morning. Good morning. How are you?
Eileen: Nice to see you. Yeah. I'm good. I’m good, thanks.
Guy: Not too nervous, I hope.
Eileen: No, a little bit.
Guy: A little bit, there's always a lot of anticipation on the morning of treatment, but you know, we've been through things a few times, chatted about things. So, you know, hopefully, today will be nice and straightforward.
Eileen is not alone in the treatment she's having today. It's become a remarkably common procedure where we are removing failing teeth, placing implants, and fitting bridgework onto the implants all on the same day. Patients tend to have sedation for this type of treatment, so they are completely unaware of what is happening, and to ensure that everything is entirely pain-free. The teeth are removed, and the implants are placed, this is all carried out within about an hour to an hour and a half of treatment.
Eileen's surgery is all complete. It's gone very, very nicely. All went according to plan. She's had the implants placed, and now the laboratory has the bridge, which they are converting and finishing ready to fit in a couple of hours. Eileen is just recovering in our patient care room on her own, having a bit of sleep following the sedation.
So far, I'm very pleased with everything that's happened. Daniel is one of our restorative specialists who fits the bridge at the end of the day. So, completing the treatment.
Eileen: It's been beyond my expectations; I've been treated so amazingly. No pain whatsoever. It happened quite quickly, and I feel like I've just been relaxing and dozing most of the day. And then by the late afternoon, I had my new teeth put in and I just think they're fantastic.
I love them! Absolutely great, I'm over the moon really, really thrilled.
