Helping Nervous Patients
Dental Anxiety and How We Help, in this video by The Implant Centre’s Implant Surgeon, Guy Barwell – from talking clearly through treatment with patients to the option of sedation.

We find an awful lot of patients are very nervous about dental implants. So, we deal with this in many ways. First, we take an awful lot of care trying to work out how to make the process as simple and as easy as possible. Patients often comment about how nice it is that we talk to them throughout the treatment, and they find this incredibly reassuring.
For those patients who just can't face the idea of having dental implants under local anaesthetic, intravenous sedation is available, and it's an exceptionally good way to treat those patients who are so nervous. Once sedated, patients tend to be aware, but they really don't care.
Some patients are very worried about having pain after a surgical procedure, such as dental implants. But nearly always we find patients come back and tell us that it's been entirely pain-free. Lots of our patients start incredibly nervous, but then after a few treatments, they realise that the quality of care they're getting means that there's nothing to be worried about.
