Could a lack of sunshine be affecting your health?

Vitamin D is an essential vitamin group that helps regulate the amount of calcium and phosphate in the body. These nutrients are needed to keep bones, teeth and muscles healthy.

Someone with a severe vitamin D deficiency, which has been left untreated, has a higher chance of experiencing loss of bone density and fractures.

Dr Bill Schaeffer spoke to the Daily Express about how to recognise a deficiency. There are four signs to be wary of related to the teeth and mouth, and these include gum disease, tooth decay, periodontitis and weak teeth.
