Having put up with a denture for years, Susan has not looked back since having her implants placed.
Susan was referred by her dentist, Dr Satnan Louis in East Preston, to find out if she could benefit from implants to fill the gap at the back of her mouth, where she had two teeth extracted many years ago. She was wearing a metal denture (plate) to replace these teeth, which she was not getting along with as it was uncomfortable and moved when chewing. She really needed a secure solution before the Christmas period, which she did not have to take out at night.
Assessment & Treatment
Through careful planning we were able to determine that she was a suitable candidate and had enough space to place two implants to support two implant crowns, giving her a long-lasting biting platform at the back of her mouth. The CT scan showed there was limited bone, but it was safe to place implants with the skilled surgery of Alan Wilson, keeping clear of the nerve in this region and using short implants.
Two implants were placed successfully and buried under the gum, as she did not require temporary teeth during the healing period. Ten weeks after her surgery the implants were uncovered and checked to ensure everything was ready to begin the process of manufacturing her two implant crowns, using our specialist implant laboratory on site.
Susan had her two back molars ready in time for Christmas, just as she wanted, so she was able to enjoy the festive time without the discomfort she once knew.
‘I wish I’d had my implants a lot earlier because having a denture made me feel really old.’
