Sherry panicked that it would not be done in time for her trip to Australia for her daughter’s wedding. The Implant Centre pulled out all the stops and it was all sorted.
Sherry knew she was in trouble when her root-filled lower left molar tooth flared up with an abscess. The side of her face swelled up and, even though she was taking painkillers every few hours, the pain was still awful.
Her dentist had given her two types of antibiotics, but nothing seemed to work, so he suggested that Sherry come to The Implant Centre, to see if we could help.
Assessment & Treatment
From the thorough assessment that The Implant Centre carried out, it was immediately clear that Sherry’s tooth could not be saved and that it needed to come out as soon as possible, if she was ever going to get rid of the infection for good.
Sherry was understandably nervous about having this horrible tooth removed – not only did it have an infection, but she knew that it was one of the large, multi-rooted molar teeth that are often difficult to remove.
She need not have worried – The team at The Implant Centre have some of the most highly-qualified and experienced clinicians in the UK, and they were able to remove the infected tooth in seconds and completely painlessly.
Sherry was thrilled to be finally free from pain – but she was still eager to have the tooth replaced with an implant, once the extraction site had healed.
Once again, Sherry was surprised by just how quick and painless the procedure was to place the implant. Her appointment was for forty-five minutes, and she had assumed that this meant that her surgery would take that long. Instead, she found that most of the appointment was spent explaining what was going to be done, which was very reassuring, and giving her clear instructions about how to take care of the implant afterwards. The actual surgery took less than ten minutes and she could hardly believe it when the surgeon said it had finished.
A few weeks later, we made Sherry’s beautiful new tooth and fitted it onto the implant, and again, Sherry was delighted with just how simple and painless the whole procedure was.
With the amount of infection that she had experienced from the original tooth, Sherry’s dentist had warned her that he was not sure if treatment with an implant was even possible. Instead, she discovered that it was not only possible, but that the whole process, from start to finish, was quick, simple and completely painless.
Her implant crown now blends in so beautifully with her other natural teeth that Sherry simply cannot tell which tooth is the implant one. It looks and feels completely natural and, unlike her old painful tooth, Sherry just forgets she has an implant.
The only time she ever thinks about her implant is if one of her friends complains about a dental problem. Then she just tells them to go to The Implant Centre to see how we can help.
