Lucinda now has four perfect new teeth which are allowing her to enjoy food once again without the stress and concern of dentures or gaps.
Lucinda told us she was a dental phobic and indeed scored the highest marks on the Dental Anxiety Scale we use to define if patients would benefit from sedation for treatment.
She was missing a few teeth and hated the denture she had struggled with, which stopped her tasting food so well and gave her trouble with cleaning and eating – not to mention the discomfort it caused. Her dentist said there was no other option apart from gaps, a denture, or of course the ideal solution for implants.
Assessment & Treatment
We carefully assessed the health of Lucinda’s remaining teeth and gums, and she was deemed to be an ideal candidate for dental implant treatment. The only decision required was regarding how to go about treatment for someone who is understandably nervous from bad childhood experiences with dentistry. She really could not cope with the idea
of any injections.
Her dentist, Ken Hall in Pulborough, organised for Lucinda to have sedation for him to remove the few failing teeth and, once healed, we then placed the implants under intravenous sedation here at The Implant Centre. She tells us she remembers nothing about the surgical treatment which involved placing four implants into the upper and lower jaw.
No further injections were needed at any stage of future treatments, and therefore no further sedation sessions were required. This is thanks to the techniques used at The Implant Centre which employ the most efficient and ideal implant
A few months later, four new crowns were fitted and checked to ensure an ideal outcome.
Lucinda has four perfect new teeth which are allowing her to enjoy food once again, without the stress and concern of dentures or gaps. She is delighted with the care and attention she received both from her own dentist and the extensive team at The Implant Centre – our implant surgeon, our restorative specialist, our sedation doctor, our laboratory team, and our nursing and administration support staff.
