Jane was under no illusion when she was referred to us that she might not be able to have implants…
Jane had gradually been losing her back teeth over the years, but still had enough teeth to chew with – until that is, her upper right back tooth finally broke. It was the only back tooth she still had up there and losing it meant that she really couldn’t chew properly any more.
She was also really worried that the teeth on the left side of her mouth would start to fail, now that she was doing all of her chewing on that side of her mouth.
Her dentist showed Jane his x-ray of that part of her mouth and showed her that there wasn’t much bone left for the placement of dental implants. He said that he wasn’t sure if implant treatment was even possible but he suggested that Jane should go to The Implant Centre, to see if they could help.
Assessment & treatment
From the thorough assessment that The Implant Centre carried out, it was immediately clear that Jane really did have very little bone for the placement of implants. Because they have a CT scanner at each of their two centres, they were able to show Jane everything on the CT scan of her very own jaw. She was absolutely amazed, as she didn’t even know this type of technology was available, but she was very nervous at the thought of needing a “Bone Graft”.
She needn’t have worried – The team at The Implant Centre have some of the most highly qualified and experienced clinicians in the UK. They were able to use growth factors from her own blood to rebuild her missing bone in her sinus, and were even able to place two implants into the jaw at the same time. Jane was taken completely by surprise when her surgeon told her the procedure was finished, as it had all been so quick and completely painless.
A few weeks later they checked Jane’s implants and were delighted with just how well the treatment had gone – the graft had worked beautifully. They referred her back to her own dentist who made her two stunning new teeth and fitted them onto the implants.
Jane had feared the worst when her dentist had warned her that she had so little bone that he wasn’t sure if treatment with implants was even possible.
Instead, she discovered that not only was it possible, but that the whole process, from start to finish, was quick, simple and completely painless.
Her implant teeth look and feel so natural that Jane has returned to The Implant Centre to have two more implants placed on the left.
Now she can eat whatever she likes, safe in the knowledge that she has strong secure replacements for her missing natural teeth and she knows where to go if she loses any more teeth in the future.
