When Jane was referred to us, she was under no illusion about whether or not she would be able to have implants.
Jane had gradually been losing her back teeth over the years, but still had enough teeth to chew with – that is, until her upper right back tooth finally broke. It was the only upper back tooth she still had, and losing it meant that she really could not chew properly any more.
She was also very worried that the teeth on the left side of her mouth would start to fail, now that she was doing all of her chewing on that side of her mouth.
Jane’s dentist showed her the x-ray he had taken of that part of her mouth and pointed out that there was not much bone left for the placement of dental implants. He said that he was not sure if implant treatment was even possible, but he suggested that Jane should come to The Implant Centre, to see if we could help.
Assessment & Treatment
From the thorough assessment we carried out at The Implant Centre, it was immediately clear that Jane had very little bone for the placement of implants. She was absolutely amazed when she was shown a CT scan of her jaw, as she did not know this type of technology was even available, but she was very nervous at the thought of needing a “bone graft”.
She need not have worried – At The Implant Centre we have some of the most highly qualified and experienced clinicians in the UK. We were able to use growth factors from Jane’s own blood to rebuild the missing bone in her sinus, and were even able to place two implants into the jaw at the same time. Jane was taken completely by surprise when her surgeon told her the procedure was finished, as it had all been so quick and completely painless.
A few weeks later, we checked Jane’s implants and were delighted with just how well the treatment had gone – the graft had worked beautifully. We referred her back to her own dentist who made for her two stunning new teeth and fitted them onto the implants.
Jane had feared the worst when her dentist had warned her that she had so little bone that he was not sure if treatment with implants was even possible.
Instead, she discovered that it was not only possible, but that the whole process from start to finish was quick, simple and completely painless.
Her implant teeth look and feel so natural that Jane has returned to The Implant Centre to have two more implants placed on the left side of her mouth.
Now she can eat whatever she likes, safe in the knowledge that she has strong secure replacements for her missing natural teeth, and she knows where to go if she loses any more teeth in the future.
