Eileen’s teeth were a constant worry and embarrassment to her. Here’s her story…
After a detailed assessment, we offered her the complete and painless solution of having a full set of upper teeth fixed on implants. She decided to proceed and we completed the operation in a single day.
Now, with a new lease of life, Eileen can’t stop smiling
Eileen had been suffering with a long history of dental problems, although she kept her mouth very clean with daily cleaning and regular hygienist visits, she was one of the unlucky people to be susceptible to periodontal gum disease. The effects of the disease causing many of her teeth to become loose and giving her a bad taste in her mouth. She was concerned about the appearance of her teeth and being a social lady always had to speak with her hand in front of her mouth.
Assessment & treatment
Eileen first came to see our specialist periodontist Sarah Diederich to see if periodontal treatment could help her gum disease, after a careful assessment Sarah recommended Eileen meet with one of our implant surgeons to see if she could have a longer lasting solution with implant treatment.
Guy Barwell, one of our implant surgeons advised we could save the teeth in the lower arch with periodontal treatment but the teeth in the upper arch would benefit being removed to clear the present infection and replacing them with a full arch dental implant bridge.
On the day of her surgery, we extracted all her remaining upper teeth and placed four implants, on the same day our on-site laboratory constructed her temporary bridge so she could leave the same day with new teeth. From this moment she couldn’t stop smiling and over the next few weeks we reviewed Eileen during the healing phase before making her final permanent bridge.
Eileen now has a full set of upper teeth which aren’t loose and make her feel self-conscious when she speaks, the bad taste she had lived with such a long time has now gone and she is able to eat anything she likes. The most important thing is now she can smile with confidence without having to cover her mouth with her hand.
